Now that it is summer time, school is out and there is a lot of free time to be used up, the question is what do I do? In a perfect world, it is possible to have a day to day agenda for the next two months of doing “fun stuff.” Unfortunately, we live in the real world, and that is not the case unless you have extra money laying around. However, nothing is worse than being bored during your summer vacation. This is why the summer is a great time to start planning ahead for your future. I know your probably thinking “how is this going to be fun?” Well it’s simple, for all those things you wanted to do but couldn’t because you didn’t have “extra money” can be put to rest if you push yourself to go out and get a summer part-time job. The best part about having a summer job is that you make your own money and no longer have to ask the parents for money. That is the freedom we all live for. This way you can go to work in the morning and still have the rest of the day to enjoy your summer. Plus the days are longer so you have a lot more time for fun!
Having a summer job is always a perk, but if you really want to get ahead of the game, internships are something that can only help move you forward. After your done with college, it gets really hard out there. You think because you have your degree it will be so much easier getting a salary or good paying job. Well, like I mentioned earlier, this is the real world and it doesn’t necessarily go like that. When you finally graduate you will have a solid idea of where you want to work and knowing that you applied yourself to an internship it would look great on applications. Not only this, but internships are extremely important because it allows you to try out the field you want to pursue and gives you the confidence that this is something you like and actually want to pursue. You should always remember that a job should be something you love and getting paid is just an added bonus. You never want to settle for something because the money is good, always love what you are doing and it will never feel like a job. And even if your out of college there is still time, apply yourself you never know what can come of this.
