As I am sure you are all aware of by now, I thrive on meditation. Meditation and mindfulness are what keep me grounded, no matter how crazy my life is. Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment. It means experiencing experiences with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to be with what is—-a willingness “to be.” Meditation lets you stop, breathe, observe, and connect with your inner self. Mindfulness research has even shown mindfulness and meditation to address health issues such as high blood pressure and ADHD. There is absolutely NO study or person out there that has said meditation does not benefit them in some way. I encourage you to try it!
One meditation I love to turn to is UCLA’s Loving Kindness Meditation. Here it is: http://marc.ucla.edu/mindful-meditations The Loving Kindness Meditation focuses on “the cultivation of positive emotion.” It is all about relationships and showing gratitude towards those who you love (pets too!). You wish love, kindness, warmth, health, protection, and happiness onto others. Not only does this meditation help you feel relaxed and grounded, but it helps you feel closer, more connected, and more grateful towards your loved ones. Please give it a try!
