When it comes to chocolatey foods, brownies are definitely a popular, delicious option. If you are like one of my clients, then I know that you loove brownies. There are two kinds of brownies: the kind that is overflowing with a flour-butter-sugar combo that is the recipe for rapid weight gain; or, there are my kind of brownies, that are made with real ingredients that you can pronounce and understand. No flour, no butter, no sugar, no oil, but the flavor, and deliciousness still remains. And, one more thing, the secret ingredient. How would you feel if I told you that my brownies are full of fiber? How would you feel if I told you that I add black beans to it?
Hold on, don’t go turning your nose up at the suggestion, and don’t you dare roll your eyes at me. I promise that no one will know that those are healthy brownies with a secret hiding inside of them. They will beg you for more, I promise. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Sima’s Famous Gluten Free Brownies With a Secret Ingredient Twist
1/2 cup unsweetened cacao powder
1 tsp. Best quality vanilla
1/4 cup agave, coconut nectar, or maple syrup
2 cups canned black beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut (optional)
Pinch of Sea salt
(Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C))
1. Add the banana, vanilla and agave in your high speed blender or food processor, and process until creamy and smooth.
2. Add the black beans,unsweetened cocoa powder and sea salt, and blend until all ingredients mixed together and smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Pour mixture to a large moving bowl.
3. Now, add the walnuts and unsweetened shredded coconut, and blend for 2 minutes until they’re chopped, then add it to the cocoa mixture.
4. Spray a 8 x 11 baking pan with coconut oi,l and pour the brownie mixture in.
5. Bake for 30 minutes.
